Whew its Done

Man that was one busy week, I am not very good at having something planned every day anymore.  All started a week ago Friday.  We sold our calves at a presale they sold really well we are pretty happy with the prices.  We are not weaning till Halloween, having a Halloweening haha.  And so those buyers will send their trucks here and pick them up and the leftovers (small and whatever else no one wants) will go to the sale the next day.  Then my Mom had planned a scrap booking evening so I headed over there and got that done.  I had headed home early cause Saturday was the Horse Parade.

I like going there mostly because its all horses but the parade doesn't start till 10:30 so I left home at 9!  I got to sleep in even that was weird.  Jess was super good as usual, she was even a little lazy but that is just fine with me.  Only thing she looked twice at was a team of minis, it was funny like she couldn't figure out what they were.  They had made a shorter route cause the rodeo comittee decided they wanted us to stay on Main Street case lots goes on there and if we go on other roads people just watch from their houses.  But the road was dug up all summer and so we had to go around some of it.  But then they ended it early was only about half hour, kinda short and they didnt go by the nursing home and hospital.  So a bunch of us made our own parade and went by there, it took a little longer and we got thanked by lots of people who were waiting there for us.  A few teams and wagons, maybe next year Jax can go :)

Then Sunday was East Coulee breakfast, the first one since May and it was good to go again. Then I finished up cooking the crab apples and making juice and pulp.  Still have to make it into Jelly and sauce but that can happen when its wintery outside.   Monday I skipped yoga cause I was just tired.  Although I did ride Razz, she was so fun, she is so brave now its cool doing stuff with her.  We started in the arena but that was boring so we went and rode half way around the North pasture then around and saw antelopes.  Then back but she didn't wanna go back so I let her pick the way and she headed East away from the horses and whatever then we went around the house and between the steps and garage and over top of the gravel pile.  That was weird haha then I decided I was done and so we quit.

Tuesday I shoulda hauled horses down to the arena before theraputic riding but I woke up with a sore throat again and so I just didn't.  I did go but not with horses.  Then Wednesday was the clinic I wasn't sure how much I would get done but I went anyways.  Took Razz and we had so much fun.  And Char got some cool pics of me!  Finally a few pics of me riding :)  We did it a little different, we each had our own session in the morning and I got the start of some lift from Razz that was cool.  We also worked on our backup making it softer.  Then in the afternoon we all got together and started with a few obstacles and dragging stuff and going over tarps and jumps and stuff.  Then we went out in the field and did some of the same exercises it was super good.  So much so we booked another day on October 11 to get him again.

Then I had planned to go to Calgary Thursday but we went to the Supreme instead. Then I went to Calgary after and got up early to get in line to buy a Super Nintendo.  We got one too :)  we were 2nd and 3rd in line that was cool.  Then we did a bit of shopping and then went to the football game that night.

And today headed up and had a look at a yearling.  Which I need like a hole in the head.  But she was cute.  Tomorrow I need to go grocery shopping cause its the first and then paint night Monday Im excited for that but I need to rest first. ANd also we had the cement guy come out and start our sidewalk and garage pad.  And the deck guy came to put the roof on the deck and build Neil an overhead door for his shed.  So much in one week.

Turnout Pictures

So since I am gonna paint my horses I thought I would get a few pics of them.  Yesterday I turned them out early cause I wasn't getting home till Midnight and that's too long.  They were surprised and I got a couple good ones.

Today it was the regular 7 turnout and they were feisty lol.  Got a few fun ones but it was almost too dark but I sure love the color of the sorrels this time of year.

Winter Plans

So I'm a planner, I have a whole list of stuff I wanna get done every season, and guaranteed some of it will change and some just won't get done, but that's OK, at least I have a start on what to do.  Specially in winter where nights are so long and I don't like going outside cause I don't get along with cold weather.

So for the winter I been trying to find a place to board Easy to ride and then that would give me something to do, wasn't gonna board at Doug's till Spring cause I don't need him rode everyday till show season.  But so far I can not find a spot so I don't know about that.  I may just have to haul down to Brooks and just ride him in March, we still have time so I can decide later.

But I did join the Therapeutic riding again this fall, only 3 more nights of it left.  And I started a painting class that is 7 weeks long, its kinda cool cause we can pick our own project and she will help us with whatever we want to work on.  I had a couple ideas I wanted and when I talked to her she looked through my Facebook page and wants me to paint horses, well that would be cool but I can't paint a stick man lol.  She said horses are her specialty so I said I sure would try.
(I really like this but would like it as a 4 piece, maybe the whole barn?)

(and love maps but would prefer it in the natural old colors )

(and I love the background, not sure I want that saying or flower tho)

And then I got a call from Susan at the library, they are doing a paper making on the 12th and then every Thursday after that is come do your own craft night and if someone wants to know how do something we will have an evening on that.  That sounds fun, and not restrictive if I don't wanna go I don't have to its perfect.  I haven't made paper since I was in elementary school so it should be fun.  And I wanna learn to make these cool log cushions so go with the one I have already.  And it will be a good excuse to get my cross-stitch done.
(My latest cross-stitch that I started forever ago, almost done)

(are they not adorable!)

I also got asked to go to the ladies workout on Monday mornings but not sure about that yet lol its a Mom and tot one but you don't need a tot (I tried that excuse) but it would be rather distracting I think but I may try.  Its just drop in so if I don't like it I can just not go back.

I also have other stuff I wanna get done, some of it needs warm days, some like painting my donkey planter I can do in the garage.  I have pile of boxes from the old house in there I need to go through, I just got tired of it and wanted the old house cleaned out so it is now.
(and this is from a paint night, may go to that too)

Now I just gotta get over this cold cause next week is gonna be pretty busy and fun :)  Got another one day clinic with Scott and going to Calgary to get a new mini Nintendo and a yoga class.  And today we are selling our calves on a video auction see how that goes, then I am going to my Moms scrap booking and if I feel better tomorrow is the Hanna Horse Parade that I wanna go to but not if I feel like this.

Bi-Planes

I went to Calgary and after I was there a bit I saw this come up on my phone.

I texted Neil and he said that sounded interesting so he may go.  I kinda wanted to go but I knew I wouldn't make it in time.  Well he went and turns out they had a wreck getting to Kerrobet, the wind was bad or some weather stuff. and were staying overnight.  That means they would be there Thursday. So we headed up to see them, was supposed to be at 3 but they got behind and never made it till 5.  Which worked out alright cause I went to the chiro and the grocery store, Neil did UFA and then it was time.  Well it was so worth going for!

They are so tiny!  The one guy got out of his plane and hes taller than it and he just picked up the tail and turned the plane around.  I can't even imagine fighting a war in a flimsy plane like that.  They look like cardboard but are metal/wood covered in fabric.  These are replicas but identical to the originals.

They been flying all across Canada on thier way to Vancouver where one plane is being donated to hang in a museum there.  They were in France on April 9th, did a big flyover after the ceremony.  Sounds like its been an adventure, they said the tall guy crash landed his plane in a field and it was overseen by the country and they did not want him to leave with his plane so he was stuck there for 2 days while they sorted it out.

The other guy was a pilot of commercial planes as a real job, he said its quite a difference haha 757s compared to these little guys.  They are only about 500 pounds and they travel about 65 miles per hour and only can go about 2 1/2 to 3 hours before fueling up.  Although they fly higher than I expected, he said up to 4500 feet.  The originals had bigger propellers and they flew up to 12000 feet.

Super neat, they answered everyone's questions and then they had a little talk and it was pretty cool.  They decided to stay overnight and so we never saw them leave but we did see a helicopter coming in they are cool, I think he was as big as the planes.

Ranching

We didn't just travel this summer we actually did a lot of work around here.  Since the nephews were here I made a list of things to get done.  We got quite a few things knocked off the list and a few still need to be finished but they had to go back to school but luckily its not winter yet.

One thing I really wanted to get done was work on my tack shed, we killed the grass in front and laid cement blocks down and I wanted it tinned and the roof done and fixed the door.  Well the door was easy then we started tinning, it was the tin we pulled off the old house so that was kinda cool, we didn't have to buy any, I will have to buy stuff for the roof cause its a weird shape but it will be so nice when its done.

Neil also had an old pump house he wanted the roof redone so we got that done.

He also had a lot of fence that needed to be rebuilt and so that got done.

And I was building a garden shed, we kinda got stuck on the rafters, but I think I got them figured out now.

And the deck. its pretty well done, just waiting on John to come build the roof part then I can do the railing. And we made a bunch of jam and pickles.

And we did some other fun stuff like target shooting, we built a target and that was kinda cool.
My Mom got to drive the Quad for her first time ever.
We put up our |Canada Flag up on the garage.

We got 2 new cats, they are so fun they fit right in.

I still need at least a month more decent weather and then I may have everything done.
